One of the most exciting projects from the mid-2000 STDI Interstudi’s scene, Sasmita is an embryo for more well-known (and well-respected) acts like Sharesprings or Derai Maksimal. They only got a few obscure singles in their short-lived lifespan. Some songs I never even knew existed until a few weeks ago. I even put the wrong title on one of their mp3 for 19 years!
Sasmita is a wonderful pop oddity that’s largely unknown, but their combination of ideas, style, and execution is instantly memorable and innovative.
We believe that a few great singles from short-lived but essential projects are always a better option than an overpriced 50th-anniversary box set. Clubwater's album conjures memories of late 80s/early 90s indiepop (The Ocean Blue, Bradford, Housemartins, O-Positive, etc), but the sound is fresh and clean and exists in its own world without being completely derivative.
